Artist Bio

Theresa “Tess” Parker is a New York born Street Artist and Creative Arts Therapist, utilizing her skills and passions of painting, psychology, and community in order to create both specialized public and private environments for healing. Tess began painting murals initially within the hospitals she facilitated therapy groups by gaining private grassroots funding through research supported business proposals. After leaving her supervisory position in mental health in 2019 to pursue a full time career in the arts, Tess has become a well known figure in the urban art community, with murals all over New York State and beginning down the East Coast throughout Miami. Throughout this and in addition, she has built a network that has gained collectors throughout the country. Her work has been featured in renound web media and publications throughout the United States as well as internationally.

Artist Statement

I have over a decade of experience as a freelance artist working with a plethora of artistic mediums and techniques. This, combined with my years of mental health-based training and didactic supervisory experience provides me with a uniquely enhanced lens through which to view the human psyche, creative expression, and the significant empowering relationship between the two, which is subtly displayed through symbols within my artwork. My work is a tangible representation of my human experience, blending thematic realms of existentialism, humor, surrealism, and feminism, primarily through the use of aerosol and hand painting techniques.
